Defense strong in scrimmage

To cap off Tulsa's eighth day of preseason camp, a 49-play scrimmage was held at Chapman Stadium on Wednesday morning. The Hurricane defense forced three turnovers and held the offense to just one touchdown and three field goals in 10 possessions.

"That's the way it's been in practice so far," said TU head coach Bill Blankenship. "One side gets the upper hand one day, and the other side of the ball the next. What we're striving for is for both sides of the ball to come out fast and continue to make each other better.

"The defense came out with a vengeance today. The defense got a stop and interception on the first series, and got another interception later on. DeWitt Jennings had two interceptions on the day. The defense really came out and was hungry."

Jennings has been very impressive in the preseason, which is a carryover from his play during the spring. His experience as a back-up last season...
