Tulane easy choice for TE Kendall Ardoin

Kendall Ardoin looked at Tulane's shallow depth chart at tight end and deep tradition of strong academics and knew he had an easy decision to make. He committed to the Green Wave over the weekend and insists his decision was final.

No matter what happens in his senior year at Ville Platte High School, he says he will play for Tulane in 2014.

"It's pretty much a done deal," he said. "Regardless of what other schools offer, I really bought into what they're trying to do at Tulane. It seems like they're turning things around."

Ardoin (6-feet-6, 215 pounds), a two-star prospect according to Rivals.com, caught 34 passes for 511 yards and five touchdowns for Ville Platte as a junior. He also registered 44 tackles with 15 stops behind the line at defensive end, but the Green Wave recruited him solely as a tight end, where he drew rave reviews for his acrobatic catches and great hands at the LSU and Mississippi State camps in early June.

With sophomore Sydie London and junior Matt Marfisi the only returning tight ends on Tulane's roster, Ardoin won't be buried on the depth chart when he arrives in 2014. A planned chemical engineering major, he isn't averse to burying himself in the books, either.
