Notes: UCLA offers 2014 four-star PG

Four-star point guard Quentin Snider decommitted from Louisville on Wednesday.

A day later, the 6-foot-1 guard earned a UCLA offer.

According to sources, after extending a courtesy call to Louisville's staff (whom Steve Alford is close with), the Bruins jumped headfirst into Snider's recruitment Friday afternoon, calling him and giving him the scholarship.

The big guard likely won't be ready to decide if he wants to take that offer any time soon, however. After opening up his recruiting process, the word is he'll be looking around extensively, trying to find the perfect fit for him.

Snider's father, Scott, told the Louisville Courier-Journal that he may just end up back at Louisville - although that seems unlikely.

"He's been kind of going back and forth this past month. There's just a lot of guards," Snider's father said of Louisville to the Louisville Courier-Journal. "Everybody still wants him to go to Louisville. The family does, and we hope Louisville still recruits him. I don't know if they will or not, but he just wants to make sure it's the best fit for him basically."

Schools that have also reportedly expressed interest in Snider since his decommitment include USC, Indiana, Michigan State, Xavier, Cincinnati, Butler, Texas Tech, Vanderbilt and Memphis.

Snider is ranked as the No. 31 player in the nation.

List cutting

A huge amount of UCLA recruits cut their lists this week, and the Bruins made it for nearly all of them:

-Five-star F Justise Winslow - Duke, Florida, Kansas, Kentucky, Texas A&M, Arizona, UCLA and Stanford.

-Five-star PF Kevon Looney - Duke, Florida, Wisconsin, Tennessee, Michigan State and UCLA.

-Four-star SF Trevon Bluiett - Arizona, Butler, Indiana, Michigan, UCLA, Purdue and Xavier.

-Four-star G Ja'Quan Newton - Miami, Minnesota, Oregon, Syracuse, Texas A&M and UCLA.

-Four-star F Kameron Chatman was the only prospective UCLA target to cut the Bruins, keeping: USC, Arizona, Michigan, Oregon and UConn.

-Four-star F Brekkott Chapman was also a UCLA target at one time, but he committed to Utah this week.

Official visits getting set up

-Per a source, UCLA has secured one of Looney's five official visits, although the date has yet to be finalized.

-Three-star SG Trey Kell, who landed a UCLA offer last week, has tentatively set up a UCLA official visit for mid-September.

-Newton has also tentatively scheduled a UCLA official visit as well.

Short Shots

-The adidas Nations event kicks off in Southern California on Friday and almost all of UCLA's men's basketball team is expected to compete in the event.

-UCLA earned a visit from four-star 2015 F Kaiser Gates on Thursday afternoon.
