UA Media Day Notebook





The following are some key notes from Razorback head coach Bret Bielema's Arkansas Media Day Press Conference on Sunday.

  • Sophomore receiver Mekale McKay is transferring to Cincinnati. Bielema said he gets wiser with age. He lost a kid to a transfer early in his career he didn't want to leave. He made it difficult for him and it ended up bad for both of them. He said he chalked that up to a mistake in handling it. Called Eddie Gran, the OC at Cincinnati who's a good friend and several others he wanted him to get ahold of for him.

  • Bielema loves that they played the entire scrimmage without a turnover and said backup center Luke Charpentier did 'incredible' filling in for the injured Travis Swanson and that Tiquention Coleman did great stepping in for injured Rohan Gaines. Coleman only knew he would start for five hours because Gaines turned his ankle in the morning session.

  • Offensive coordinator Jim Chaney has embraced the term 'balance,' and he said the idea that they are just going to run the ball is incorrect. When you can run the ball for 200-plus yards per game, it makes it much easier on...
