Calhoun Proving Doubters Wrong
Inside the state of Mississippi lies big-name talent. There also lie hundreds of kids that every year get overlooked by other schools. Throughout the past few years there have been great stories of players that have made it to their dream of playing FBS football and most importantly in the SEC. One of those great stories comes from sophomore cornerback Taveze Calhoun.
Calhoun grew up in Scott County playing for Morton High School. Former Clarion-Ledger high school sports writer Rod Walker often talks about a young Calhoun finding Walker in the mall and asking him if he made the paper's annual Dandy Dozen. Walker had no idea who this kid was much less if he was any good at football. He then mentions that Calhoun was out to prove everyone wrong and became one of the top defenders in the state by year's end.
