Still a leader


AUBURN | Jonathan Wallace may have finished second in the quarterback race last week, but that doesn't mean he's looking at 2013 as a lost season.



Injuries happen, particularly in football, and Wallace’s emotional investment into his task hasn't slipped a bit since Nick Marshall was named Auburn's starter. His goal of helping the Tigers move forward remains fully in tact.



“I have to be a team player and a great teammate for this team,” Wallace said. “When I heard the news, I understood. I understood what Coach (Gus Malzahn) wanted me to do as my role and I’m taking the heat of it.”



What will that role entail?



Wallace explained that he has to be the same person he's been since the moment Auburn offered him a scholarship in 2012. He wants to be the guy who gets his teammates ready for each and every game and if he happens to earn an opportunity on the field, he'll be ready.
