Previewing Vanderbilt and Ole Miss

It's game day, and Ole Miss and Vanderbilt are each set to open their seasons in Nashville tonight.'s Chris Lee breaks down the game and gives a prediction.

When Vanderbilt runs

Much off-season focus has been on Vanderbilt's loss of Zac Stacy, and how that affects the Commodores tonight. However, most have also forgotten that Stacy ran just two times for 17 yards before exiting with an injury a year ago. The problem for Vanderbilt is that the rest of the team ran just 34 times for 86 yards. That included three sacks for minus-22 yards, and so the true number was 32 carries for 108 yards -- a 3.4 yard-per carry average -- which still isn't all that great.

My guess is that you'll see VU run around 60 percent of the time tonight, with Wesley Tate getting more carries than either Jerron Seymour or Jerron Seymour. Tate ran 15 times for 43 yards last year, though keep in mind those were often short-yardage situations that limited the per-carry upside a bit.
