DotComp: Let's get harsh

EAST LANSING - I'd call it one of the more disappointing victories we've ever seen at Spartan Stadium.

That's how demanding we've become. That's how frustrating this offense has been.

Disappointing because we were expecting to see vast improvement from Michigan State's talented but enigmatic wide receivers.

Disappointing because we were hoping to see improvement from one or both quarterbacks.

Spartan observers were 0-for-2 on their late-summer wish list during Michigan State's disappointing 26-13 victory over Western Michigan, Friday night.

Disappointing because Michigan State is supposed to be pretty good this year, but many of you were hoping for very good. Disappointing because a pair of 11-win seasons in 2010 and 2011 has increased the quota around here.

Frustrating because the starting QB has tools. The WRs have tools. But they just aren't clicking together. Following this game, 12 solid months after the problems first arose, I'm wondering if they ever will.

The good news is that this Spartan defense, which scored 14 points and set up 3 more against the Broncos, looks like it is going to be even better than it was a year ago.
