Scouting Hough at Mallard Creek

Last Friday the marquee high school football showdown in the state was at Mallard Creek High in Charlotte. Mallard Creek, the consensus top-ranked team in the 4-A class, was hosting upstart Hough High from nearby Cornelius. Both teams were undefeated, and Hough had risen up the rankings throughout the season.

NCSU assistant coaches Eddie Faulkner and Richard McNutt were at the game, and for good reason. NCSU commit Jaylen Samuels is a do-it-all senior athlete on offense for Mallard Creek. The Mavericks also have a pair of intriguing junior corners on NCSU's radar in Nafees Lyon and Amari Henderson.

Hough has a trio of highly regarded juniors, led by defensive backs Mark Fields and Corey Bell, both of whom have early NC State offers. Receiver Carl Tucker reports offers from UNC, Clemson and Tennessee already.

Here is our scouting report from the game.
