One makes trip, one doesn't

Two border state gems had plans to attend the annual Red-White game in Lincoln that closes out the Huskers' spring drills. One was able to make the trip, and, due to no fault of his own, one wasn't. Overland Park (Kan.) Shawnee Mission West linebacker Blake Lawrence and Des Moines Lincoln High defensive back Jordan Bernstine were looking forward to taking in the spectacle today, but which one was a last minute cancellation?

"Yes, I went up there with all four of my parents - my mom and step dad, and my dad and step mom," the 6-foot-3, 205-pound Lawrence said. "We all traveled up together and watched the whole game.

"We had an early morning and arrived at 9:30. We did some eating and had a little tour of the facilities. Then we headed over to the game, watched warm-ups and just enjoyed the game from the 50-yard line. It was nice."
