Quip standout picks up another offer
Aliquippa's Brandon Lindsey (6' 3" 210) picked up his second scholarship offer this past week. West Virginia assistant coach Tony Gibson stopped by Aliquippa High School last Wednesday with an offer in hand. This is Lindsey's second scholarship offer. He also holds an early one from the University of Pittsburgh.
Lindsey told the Pantherlair, "West Virginia and Cincinnati were out to my school last week. I think Pitt is scheduled to come by in about two weeks."
During the month of April Lindsey attended Pitt's Blue Chip Day and got to watch the Panthers practice and got a tour of the campus while there. He was also able to take in the Blue-Gold scrimmage at Heinz Field. Lindsey said, "I got to talk to Darrelle Revis and Dorin Dickerson while I was there." Pitt starting two cornerbacks this past season Darrelle Revis and Josh Lay both a graduates of Aliquippa.
Lindsey is a two-way starter for the Quips. On defense he is their nose tackle although he projects to a linebacker in college and that is the position Pitt is recruiting him to play.
Lindsey was in on a 150 tackles last fall and had 15 sacks. He helped Coach Matt Zmijanic team to an 8-2 record and a berth in the WPIAL AA playoffs. The Quips have several starters back this fall and could be gearing up for another run at the state championship.
Lindsey is also the featured running back at Aliquippa and gained 1,251 yards last year while scoring 19 touchdowns. Lindsey said, "I think I could play running back in college if I put my mind to it."
Lindsey is also a pretty good basketball player. He teamed with heralded Herb Pope and super sophomore Jonathan Baldwin this past season. The Quips have Pope, Lindsey and Baldwin back from a team that finished 28-3 and won the WPIAL AA basketball championship. The Quips will be favored to win the AA state basketball championship.
Last fall Lindsey was an all-conference selection on both sides of the football. He was also named All-Class AA in Western Pa.
Lindsey's brother attended Northwestern from 1989-93. He is also a good student with a 4.0 GPA.
Lindsey told the Pantherlair that he does not have firm plans yet but would like to visit Michigan and Georgia Tech this summer. He also plans on attending the adidas camp at the UPMC complex this coming weekend. He also indicated that he does not expect to make an early choice of schools and will probably wait until after the football season to make a decision.
