Bruins have interest in rising star

UCLA is beginning to take a long look at one of the most intriguing prospects in Southern California. Offensive coordinator Jim Svoboda was by the school last week and he must have been impressed with what he saw because Coach Karl Dorrell was by the school today to check this player out.

The player in question is athlete prospect Malachi Lewis (6-3, 215, 4.55) from Oxnard, Calif., Rio Mesa.

"Coach Karl Dorrell came by the school today and liked what he saw in Malachi," Rio Mesa coach Bob Gregorchuk said. "Then he asked me where I thought he would play on the next level."

"I told him with his body type and athleticism, he could play wherever you want him," Gregorchuk said. "Coach Dorrell agreed and said he could bulk to 235 with ease."
