Kentucky offers Pennsylvania lineman

Kentucky's impressive 2006 football recruiting class had a distinct southern flavor, but one of the jewels of the group was Pennsylvania defensive back Ashton Cobb.

The Wildcats hope to mine more talent from the Keystone State this year, and one player on the early scholarship list is Pittsburgh lineman Cameron Holland.

Holland, a 6-foot-2, 280-pound guard from Perry Traditional Academy, says he's been receiving heavy attention from UK defensive coordinator Mike Archer, who scouts the western Pennsylvania region for the Cats after spending several years on the Pittsburgh Steelers' staff.

"I got my offer from them in April," Holland said. "I'm not real sure how they found out about me. It kind of came as a surprise at first, even to my coach, but coach Archer has been showing a lot of interest. He must of known about me from some of his contacts around here."
