Malcolm Grant at the Bob Gibbons TOC
Here is an in-depth look at the play of Malcolm Grant, (Villanova commit, 6-0, Brooklyn (N.Y.) Robeson) at the 2006 Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions this weekend in North Carolina.
Grant gave Jay Wright and his staff a verbal commitment this Spring. The plan is for Grant to Prep at Winchendon School in Massachussetts for a year and then join Villanova program with the Class of 2007.
Overall, Grant was up and down in this event. His "up" games showed that he could contribute valuable minutes as a combo guard in the Big East. His "down" games left one questioning his consistency.
Grant's strengths are toughness, handle, three-point shooting, and teamwork. He needs to continue to improve his strength and ability to finish his drives through the lane. Defensively, he plays decent on-the-ball defense but needs work in help and recover situations where he has a tendency to get caught in no mans land or provide ineffective help.
