Richt is confident in running back Moreno

heading into 2006, and it is not just because of returning juniors Thomas Brown, Kregg Lumpkin, and Danny Ware. He does not know for sure if freshman Knowshon Moreno will play this year, but he is confident that before all is said and done, the Garden State star looks to have a great career as a Bulldog.

"He scored more touchdowns than anybody in the history of that state," said Richt. "That does not mean he is the best. Maybe he is in a situation with better blockers than everybody else, but the bottom line is that he is a very talented guy as a return man, he catches the ball very well out of the backfield, he has great agility, and he showed a lot of power in high school."

In addition to being second all time in New Jersey high school history by rushing for 6,268 in his career at Middletown South, Moreno's 782 points off of 128 touchdowns is the state record. As a senior, he rushed for 1,808 yards on 185 caries, an average of nearly 10 yards per attempt, and scored 43 touchdowns. All of this was in just 10 games.
