Sumler ready to begin summer workouts

Most of the incoming players from the recruiting Class of 2006 are expected on campus in July. But Demetrius Sumler, who graduated from high school just over a week ago, is already in Boulder getting ready to begin workouts with the team this week.

When Sumler got to town he stayed with junior running backs Hugh Charles and Byron Ellis. He has also been working out with incoming freshman quarterback Cody Hawkins.

Sumler also took a trip to Boulder in mid-April to check out a few of the Buffaloes' spring practices. The competitiveness of Division I football caught his eye.

The nation's 48th-ranked running back prospect from the Class of 2006, Sumler had incredible success at the high school level. Playing at Cathedral Catholic in San Diego, Calif., he rushed for 5,650 yards, breaking the San Diego County career rushing record.
