Vandy lands speedy Georgia receiver

The Vanderbilt Commodores landed their fifth verbal commitment of the 2007 recruiting class when blazing-fast receiver Udom Umoh gave the Vandy coaching staff his pledge on Friday after a visit to the school.


The 5-foot-10, 170-pounder from Peach County High in Fort Valley, Ga., had been getting attention from various schools including Georgia, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest and Auburn before committing to the 'Dores.


"The visit went real well," says Umoh. "They showed me around the campus and I got to meet some players. I met the receivers George Smith, Earl Bennett, and Marlon White. The main reason I want to go to Vanderbilt is because of Coach Charlie Fisher. I like him cause he's shown me a lot of interest and he's going to be the man I'm going to be working with for the next four years."
