Tyrod Taylor enjoys visit to Blacksburg
Saturday was a big day for Virginia Tech as over 100 recruits were on campus for their senior camp. Certainly the biggest of them was five-star quarterback Tyrod Taylor out of Hampton, Va. The 6-foot-1, 200-pounder made what appears to be his last trip to Blacksburg before an expected decision in the coming weeks.
"The visit went well. I got to hang out with the coaches, players and even some recruits that are likely to end up there," he said. "Of the recruits, I had a good conversation with Davon Morgan as well as William Alvarez and Blake DeChristopher. We hung out and talked about a lot of different things. I tried to recruit them all to come there. I also really hit it off well with the receivers they offered, in particular Patrick Terry and Cameron Ford. Both of them did really well going to get the ball. Patrick actually called me afterwards to tell me he was committing. I didn't get to talk to Cameron much, but from the passes I threw him, that guy can play."
Of course Taylor got special treatment allowing him to talk with Frank Beamer and many of the players on the team.
"I got to talk to every one of the coaches including coach Beamer," he said. "He basically told me that he really needs me there. On Friday, I also hung out with a bunch of the players including Xavier Adibi, Justin Harper, Brendan Hill, D.J. Parker and a bunch of other guys from the area. They all basically told me that they felt I'd do well if I decide to go there."
