Fifty days until football

Last year the Demon Deacons of Winston-Salem got off to a rocky and rough start. A (4-7) record isn't enough to satisfy Jim Grobe and his staff and loosing future Deacon Hall of Fame member Chris Barclay isn't the best way to kick things up a gear. So what do the Demon Deacons have in store for us this year? Could there be a turn around.


Defense:


The Demon Deacons return ten starters on the defense giving them more leadership and veteran experience then last year's shaky squad.


Fan favorite and returning team leader Jon Abbate should be on track to have a huge season. The stud linebacker who is called a beast in the weight room is one of the best returning defensive players in the ACC. Abbate has already racked up 178 tackles in two seasons and should have another 100 tackle season. His leadership and talent should help lead a defense that is returning ten starters to a better season.


Junior defensive end Matt Robinson, sophomore defensive back Alphonso Smith, and senior standout safeties Patrick Ghee and Josh Gattis are just a few of the names that make up the much improved defensive squad.
