Auburn's young WR's must step up this fall
Auburn wide receiver coach Greg Knox wasn't happy.
Following the end of spring drills, Knox was critical of his wideouts, saying he had just one - senior Courtney Taylor - that was ready for SEC competition.
But spring practice concluded over four months ago and Knox is hoping he'll see a different unit when the Tigers step back on the practice fields next week.
"I always feel the biggest jump, mainly with freshmen, is made between the summer and the beginning of the fall," said Knox. "Hopefully, they've grown up since spring and studied some tape and they feel more relaxed in the system.
"I expect to see a big jump when we start fall camp."
While Knox can't work with his receivers on the field during the summer, he is allowed to have regular meetings. He relies on Taylor and fellow senior Lee Guess to coach-up the younger receivers during player-led workouts.
"They are our two seniors and our leaders and extra coaches out there on the field," said Knox.
