Saunders has big time in Columbia

Durham, N.C., Riverside three-star tight end/defensive end Wesley Saunders took an unofficial visit to South Carolina over the weekend, and loved what he found in Columbia. The 6-foot-5, 270-pound Saunders began the day surrounded by women.

"When we got there at around 3:00, coach (Fred) Chatham met with me and my father, and one of the first things we did was go over to the ladies clinic they had going on," Saunders said. "I think he had to have set that up on purpose where I would be around all those women. I definitely wasn't complaining."

Saunders, who had 20 catches for 308 yards and seven touchdowns last season, then got a feel for the Carolina campus .

"Then we went around and toured the campus and all the facilities. We saw the weight room, the stadium and all that good stuff, and then I met some of the other coaches. They also told me it would be OK to play basketball if I came there, so we looked at the basketball facilities, too."
