Rebels begin Memphis prep

It's officially game week for Ole Miss. With the Sunday kickoff, Monday will be treated like a normal Sunday during the season meaning the Rebels will have the day off from practice. The coaches meanwhile have started breaking down film and preparing a game play for Memphis. Ed Orgeron discussed fall camp and moving forward to the first game of the season Monday morning with the media.

Opening Comments:

Obviously we're excited to start game week. Our guys got the day off today. We'll start preparation for our first game tomorrow. We feel like we've had a very good camp. We've kind of solidified our starting group on offense and defense. I think the placekicking job is still up for grabs this week. We're going to decide that towards the end of the week.

On the defense we have a new starting front, I'm excited about them and we have six new starters on defense.

Peria Jerry is going to start at end, backed up by Greg Hardy. Defensive tackle will be Hayward Howard, nose tackle will be Jeremy Garrett and Brandon Jenkins, and Jeremy will also be the backup defensive tackle. Our LEO rush end will be Chris Bowers and Marcus Tillman, a freshman we're really excited about.

Our SAM linebacker will be Garry Pack and Jonathan Cornell. MIKE is obviously going to be Patrick Willis backed up by Robert Russell. Our WILL linebacker will be Quentin Taylor and seeing a lot of time will be a new player for us we're really excited about [db]Rory Johnson.

The defensive backs will be Nate Banks, Jamarca Sanford, Charles Clark{/db] and we should be really fine there with [db]Trumaine McBride.

(Rob) Park is going to be the starting punter and we have to see between (Joshua) Shene and (Justin) Sparks this week.

We should be very solid on defense with our MIKE in the middle. Our defensive line has to come along. On offense we have seven new starters. We don't have any guy on the offensive line that is playing the same position he started in last year so it should be interesting. I think we're going to have a better group than last year. (Michael) Oher is going to be the left tackle (Andrew) Wicker is going to be the left guard. (Thomas) Eckers is going to be the center, right guard will be a freshman we're really excited about, [db]John Jerry, we think that he is going to be fantastic. Darryl Harris moves to right tackle and (Robert) Lane and (Lawrence) Lilly will both start for us at tight end.
