Wake's week in review

This past week has been pretty exciting for Wake Forest fans. Wake basketball finally jumped onto the recruiting scene when they grabbed four star prospect James Johnson. The verbal commitment from Johnson was huge for head coach Skip Prosser and hopefully it sparked the streak of verbal commitments Wake basketball is looking for. Skip Prosser's staff received great news Sunday night as one of those players, 4-star James Johnson, has decided to attend Wake Forest University. James was virtually unknown before he blew up at the Nike Camp last July. Mid majors were on him early, but his recruitment took off after he was named the MVP of the Nike Camp with a 16 point, 10 rebound performance. Since then, schools like Arizona State, Boston College, Cincinnati, Gonzaga, Kansas, Maryland, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, and Washington State all became interested. He visited the Deacs shortly after he trimmed his list to Kansas, Cincinnati, Boston College, Tennessee, and Wake, and the Deacon staff showed him all he needed to see.

So much excitement came from James Johnson's verbal commitment this past week. Johnson visited Wake last weekend before making his decision to commit but he wasn't the only one on campus last weekend. Four star point guard Jeff Teague was also in Winston-Salem checking the campus and program out. Teague admitted he liked what he saw at Wake. The visit to Wake was good. I liked the campus and the coaching staff a lot. I really like their style of basketball. It matches my game well the way they get up and down the court. I got to see them practice before their trip to the Bahamas and that was good to see,
