Cornerback Joshua Moore signed with Kansas State out of Pompano Beach, Fla., a difficult decision for the talented athlete who grew up a Florida State fan and regularly attended Seminole games. Moore received an offer from FSU before signing day but surprised some close to him by honoring his commitment to K-State. The Wildcats must be pleased he did, as Moore has already become a big part of the K-State defense as a true freshman.
After Tuesday's evening practice came to a close Moore took the time to answer questions from GoPowercat.com and a small group of media members gathered at the Vanier Football Complex.
Baylor tried to take some shots at you last week, and it looked like you held up pretty well. Do you expect teams to go at you being a true freshman?
"Yeah, most of the time, since I'm a young corner, I feel they do throw my way a lot more than they do the other side. That just gives me a chance to make more plays."
Baylor threw a few fades deep down the field at you; what's going through your mind on a play like that?
"Basically that when the ball is in the air, it's mine; I need to go get it."
How confident were you coming in that you'd play as a true freshman?
"Coming in I had a lot of confidence that I'd play. Coach Prince and Coach Morris told me they weren't going to redshirt me when they recruited me. So when I came in I was ready to play football. That's what I did, and I'm playing now."
Looking back at your recruiting, were you a big Florida State fan growing up?
"Yes. I was a big Florida State fan. I wanted to go there since I was little. I went to their games. I got recruited by them early but didn't have the test scores at first. K-State came in and were on me for a while. At the end, towards signing day, Florida State came back in and offered me a scholarship, but I held my commitment to K-State. I came up here, and I'm happy now."
