Ryan Mathews putting up monster numbers

Bakersfield, Calif., West High standout Ryan Mathews is having one of the best seasons of any player in the state. The 5-foot-11, 195 pound senior is averaging 244.7 rushing yards per game on more than 25 carries per outing, and he's doing it while lining up as a quarterback. ASUDevils.com spoke with him about his monster season and learned more about his recruitment, including which school he currently favors.


In his last outing alone, Mathews ran for 372 yards and seven touchdowns, and he threw for another touchdown as West routed Ridgeview 61-27. Mathews has over 200 yards rushing in the first half alone and he was taken out of the game midway through the third quarter of the route.
