Fearless predictions for A&M

A quick review of our Fearless predicitions for KU reveals a so-so performance. Major "hits" on Toston's start, defensive personnel changes, Cornish's limited rushing yards and Bpbby Reid's big passing day. Major knock for getting the winner wrong. We'll work on that this week.

Prediction #1 - It's anybody's guess who'll get the start tonight at running back for Oklahoma State. It probably doesn't matter much, as Mike Hamilton, Keith Toston and Dantrell Savage will each have opportunities to impact the game. Our pick to have the biggest impact tonight? Savage. The JUCO-transfer is finally back to 100% and performed well despite relatively limited touches in Lawrence. We think Savage gets his hands on the ball more against A&M than he has all year, and will be very productive.

Prediction #2 - We've called for this one several times already this season and have largely struck out...but with Adarius Bowman coming off of a 300-yard, four touchdown day against KU, we like our chances of hitting on a D'Juan Woods breakout day. He's highly motivated and blocked like a madman on several of Bowman's long receptions. With more attention focused on AD, Woods breaks the 100-yard mark for the first time this season and gets at least one score.

Prediction #3 - We have no idea exactly what OSU will do to try and stop A&M's potent ground attack, but one thing we're fairly certain of is that they won't be afraid to get creative to do it. Look for multiple alignments from the Cowboy defenders, including the base 4-3, the 4-2-5 and maybe even some 5-2.

Prediction #4 - What kind of success will the defensive gameplan bring? Moderate. The Aggies will be right around their average of 200 yards on the ground. Jumbo back Javorskie Lane falls short of his 68 yards-per-game average, while speed back Michael Goodson bests his 46.6 average.

Prediction #5 - The powerful OSU offense breaks a season-long trend and gets off to a good start early in the game. They were actually quite productive in terms of yardage in the first half at KU, but self-inflicted wounds repeatedly prevented points from going on the board. Tonight, the Pokes put points on the board in two of their first three offensive drives.

Prediction #6 - A game spent largely on the bench will re-focus linebacker Rodrick Johnson and he'll have his best game this season. Johnson having a breakout game will be crucial in limiting Lane's effectiveness between the tackles. Johnson has proven he's capable of performing in big games, but needs to show it this year.

Predicition #7 - After whiffing on this one for the last three games in a row, we're wussing out here in a big way. We'll give you the final score, you pick the winner.

38-28.

Bonus wild guess - The Pokes do something creative with their uniforms for Homecoming. We've heard rumors of alternate versions of the new jerseys being available, but don't know if that's true or not. Could see one of those, or just going with the orange jersey over orange pants.
