Florida tackle has great a great visit
Coach Wannstedt has consistently indicated he wants to run the ball better and it all starts up front. This weekend offensive tackle Branden Curry (6' 6" 300) from Boyd Anderson High School in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida took an official visit to Pittsburgh to see the Panthers host Rutgers at Heinz Field.
Curry told the Pantherlair, "I arrived in Pittsburgh on Friday. You come out through a tunnel and the city is right there is front of you. You can see Heinz Field and the stadium where the Pirates play. It is great. I like the city a lot although there are a lot of bridges and it is hilly."
Curry also said, I had dinner with Coach Wannstedt. Coach Hill and Partridge was there. I must have eaten three meals with coach Wannstedt. I also got a tour of the campus while I was there. I got to see the basketball arena and the Pitt practice facilities which they share with the Steelers. There is a cafeteria there where the Steelers eat.'
Boyd Anderson is now 6-2. Curry said, "We had a bye this week so I was able to come up on Friday. This week we play South Plantation for the district championship. We will be giving it our best shot. I don't think our school has won a district championship for about 11 years."
Curry has no plans to visit any other schools at this time.
Rivals.com ranks Curry as the No. 67 prospect in the state of Florida and the No. 45 offensive tackle prospect in the country.
Pitt already has verbal commitments from tackle candidates John Fieger and Erie's Dan Matha although both Dan McGlynn and Jeff Otah will be seniors next year so there is a need to find replacements.
