Freeman's calm demeanor paying off
Josh Freeman is calm in the face of pressure, refusing to flinch when the unexpected comes at him. He stays cool in the pocket, remembering his gameplan and staying true to the script. And that's in the postgame press conference room when surrounded by the brutes from the media.
Kansas State's true freshman quarterback is even better in game situations. On and off the field, Freeman is clearly in control.
"I wouldn't have been able to do what he's doing at that age, I wasn't that mature," K-State coach Ron Prince said, "but here's a kid who graduated mid-year of (his senior year of) high school.
"(His demeanor is) part of his profile. You can't take that away; that's what makes him who he is. An absence of those things makes players not use all of their tools. I think he's got a terrific makeup and it's my job as a coach to tutor him in what he's going to see."
