Practice Report: Prothro back at practice

The Tide took in its final practice before the Iron Bowl on Thursday with a welcome face joining the team for the session.

Injured wide receiver Tyrone Prothro suited up for practice today and while head coach Mike Shula said he won't be playing with the team on Saturday, Prothro's presence was a welcome site for the Tide as it finished up the physical part of preparation this week.

"That finishes up our week of practice, physically," Shula said. "We'll have a walkthrough tomorrow and we'll talk to our guys about spending a little extra time on their own getting ready for this game. It's going to be here before we know and our guys have done a really good job of preparation this week."

As the team enters its final game of the regular season, Shula said that although the Tide didn't get as many wins as it wanted there is still plenty good that has come from the 2006 season.

"We've seen a lot of good things happen this year individually. We don't have the record we would like to have but we've seen guys like Nikita Stover and Will Oakley take great strides this year. The same goes with John Parker Wilson and Andre Smith. There's a lot of guys who are much better football players now and that's where we have to get to become a great football team."
