Chizik's recruiting impact for ISU

The hiring of Texas co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Gene Chizik naturally brings up questions of on-the-field success and possible assistant coach hires. But fans are also wondering about what effect he'll have on recruiting success at Iowa State.

The Cyclones' classes have not cracked the top 50 nationally in the team rankings since the 2004 group which came in at No. 42 in the country. So can Chizik bring in a staff that brings a significant change in recruiting during year one? That depends on a variety of different possibilities that include staff hires and which fertile recruiting grounds Chizik will choose to focus on.

Chizik's last two positions, at Auburn and Texas respectively, are good places to start the speculation. While Chizik didn't land a large quantity of prospects, the quality of players he was involved with was certainly noticeable.
