Ray-Pec runner wins title, sets record

For the third year in a row, the Raymore-Peculiar Panthers hoisted the Missouri Class 5 state title trophy. In 2006, Ray-Pec's Derrick Washington did something that no other player had done when he scored 5 touchdowns in the title game.

After three early losses, Washington said, few people outside the program thought that a third title run was in the works. Washington said that he was happy to help prove doubters wrong.

Because of the time and date of the title game, Washington was unable to attend Missouri's game against Kansas, but that didn't stop him from hearing all about it.
