Paulus trying to develop patience
Expectations have been set extraordinarily high for a Duke basketball program that has been at the top or among the nation's elite for much of the last quarter century.
So when the team comes out of the starting blocks a little slower than usual, it doesn't talk long for questions to arise about what is going wrong.
Although the Blue Devils are 6-1 heading into Saturday night's game against Georgetown, a so far underachieving offense makes it reasonable to think that this Duke team may be a few guns shy of being a legitimate ACC contender.
But it would be a mistake to jump on that bandwagon this early according to sophomore point guard Greg Paulus, who missed nearly all of preseason practice but has borne much of the criticism for the team's lack of continuity so far.
