Nichol wasn't prepared for Norman
This is the second in a four part series in which Sooner fans can get to know their newest quarterback commitment, Keith Nichol.
Part II: The Unexpected
"I thought I was going to run into everyone wearing cowboy boots and cowboy hats"
Though Keith Nichol's expectations of what Oklahoma might be like may seem comical to 'Okies' it's hardly an isolated sentiment for those who Bob Stoops and his staff can convince to visit. Usually the myth is quickly dispelled but Stoops and co. may have gotten off on a bit of the wrong foot before Nichol ever set foot in the Sooner State.
"I got onto the plane going (to Norman) and there was a guy in boots and a hat and I was thinking 'what have I gotten myself into?'," Nichol laughed. "Then I got there and it was nothing like that."
Both Nichol and his father Gary came into Norman expecting to see all the things that come with one of the nation's more tradition rich programs, however it was the lack of ego about that previous success that seemed to catch the two off guard almost immediately upon their arrival.
