An early look at the Auburn Tigers

Nebraska will take on a very talented 10-2 Auburn team in the Cotton Bowl on Jan. 1. The Tigers may be the fastest team the Huskers have faced this season.

HuskersIllustrated.com got together with Bryan Matthews of AuburnSports.com to get some early perspective and takes on NU's upcoming opponent they'll face in the Cotton Bowl.

What are the strengths of this team?

"Auburn's had some moments of greatness on offense and defense but the most consistent and strongest part of the 2006 team has been special teams. Senior placekicker John Vaughn is one of three finalists for the Lou Groza Award after making 19-of-23 field goals including a 55-yarder against Mississippi State.

"Senior punter Kody Bliss led the SEC with a 46.1 average and senior kickoff specialist Matt Clark nailed 49 of 62 kickoffs for touchbacks. Sophomore Tristan Davis led the SEC in kick returns with a 26.4 average.

"Auburn's blocked punt returned for a touchdown was the difference in the Tigers 27-17 win over No. 2 Florida, the Gators only loss of the season."
