Irish need recruiting role reversal

Charlie Weis made it sound so simple.

In the week after Notre Dame's 44-24 loss against Southern California, the Irish head coach hit the road with a basic recruiting message. He told any defensive prospect that would listen how Notre Dame needed their help, immediately.

Unfortunately for Weis, it appears Notre Dame's defensive recruiting has been moving in the wrong direction ever since.

On Thursday, the Irish suffered another defensive blow, losing defensive end Justin Trattou to the national champion Florida Gators. Trattou committed the Irish in early June and took an official visit to Florida last weekend.
