Four-star Saunders is a Gamecock

Durham (N.C.) four-star tight end/defensive end Weslye Saunders, the No. 8 ranked prospect in the Tar Heel State, is getting ready to publicly commit to South Carolina at his school banquet that began at 7:00 PM. The 6-foot-5, 270-pound Saunders had narrowed his list of schools to the Gamecocks and the North Carolina Tar Heels, after also considering offers from schools like Florida State, Penn State, Clemson and others. He chose to bring his talents to Columbia for multiple reasons.

"I picked South Carolina because Steve Spurrier is a great coach, and he knows how to get his playmakers the ball in his offense," Saunders said. "I also wanted to get away from home a little bit and do my own thing. I feel like doing it at an up and coming program like South Carolina was the best fit for me personally."
