Gatson latest UA commit

Arkansas added No. 26 to the 2007 commitment list Monday morning when the Hogs offered and gained a commitment from Germantown (Tenn.) cornerback Greg Gatson.

Gatson, 5-foot-11, 160 pounds, is the son of former Razorback cornerback Greg Gatson, Sr., who played under Ken Hatfield in Fayetteville in the mid-1980s. The younger Gatson performed well at the Houston Nutt Camp last June, showing dramatic improvement and running the 40-yard dash in 4.47 seconds (hand held) and 4.62 seconds (laser time).

"He went over there last summer, and I think he has gone over there the last two summers to their camp," Germantown coach Charlie White said. "I think he did pretty well, and I think he was high on their list. I don't think he was right there at number one, but things got shuffled around, and all the sudden he's at the top of their list. He's a good player. He's played free safety and cornerback for us and split end. He's got good speed, soft hands, returned kicks and punts. He's pretty much a multi-purpose guy."
