Tigers have depth at wide receiver
Each day from now until March 13th, PowerMizzou.com will preview a different aspect of spring football 2007 for the Tigers. We begin with our in-depth preview of each position. Today, we look at wide receiver, perhaps the deepest position on the entire team.
The Starters: Whenever he gets back from injury William Franklin re-assumes the role of Missouri's top wideout. Tommy Saunders established himself as the thing every passing offense has to have: a sure set of hands willing to go over the middle and make the tough catches. The third spot is open with Brad Ekwerekwu's graduation. The early favorite has to be sophomore Jared Perry, who put together one of the better true freshman seasons in Missouri history last year.
The Backups: Without doubt, Danario Alexander is going to be on the two-deep. He has all the tools and really came on in the second half of the season. Only injury kept Jeremy Maclin out of the rotation a season ago. He may not start spring ball on the second-string, but he will end it there. The final spot will be a battle between veterans Greg Bracey and Jason Ray. Bracey showed some flashes last season and wins out in our eyes.
