Experience steps into starting role at safety

Each day from now until March 13th, will preview a different aspect of spring football 2007 for the Tigers. We begin with our in-depth preview of each position. Today, we look at safety, where a wealth of candidates could replace David Overstreet and Brandon Massey.

The Starters: Cornelius Brown and William Moore both saw significant playing time in 2006 and both had moments of brilliance. They have the inside track on the jobs and don't look all that likely to give them up.

The Backups: Justin Garrett may be the most critical guy to watch in spring ball. The former Tennessee signee is on campus early and could very well step into that third safety spot filled by Moore last season.

Missouri plays a lot of three-safety looks. Del Howard, if he stays here, and Kevin Rutland are superb athletes who should fill out the two-deep.
