3/19 Sights and Sounds

The start of Arizona State's 15-workout spring schedule also means the return of one of's most loved and anticipated regular features. We call it the "sights and sounds" of practice, and it's the best and most complete way to keep up with all the happenings at the Bill Kajikawa Practice Facility.

-Tyrice Thompson was working with the first team in a double tight end formation opposite Brent Miller. The role that Thompson had was kind of a hybrid tight end/wide receiver. The Sun Devils used a lot of two tight end formations on day one, and we even saw big redshirt freshman Lance Evbuomwan lined up in the slot and catch a ball out of what was essentially a 4-wide look. Evbuomwan carries 268 pounds extremely well and is fluid with nice feet and hands. Miller made several nice catches and had a very solid practice. Another tight end, sophomore Jovon Williams is listed at 6-foot-4, 227 pounds, up an inch and 14 pounds over last season, and it's good weight. He looked quick and athletic out there as a receiver. If he's able to become more versatile, he has a good chance to see the field in this hybrid tight end/wide receiver role that we'll likely see more of.
