Nation's top QB instructor visits NU on Monday
Nobody in the country is regarded as better quarterback instructor than Mission Viejo (Calif.) head coach Bob Johnson.
The long time California high school head coach is the head instructor of the EA Sports Elite 11 camp that takes place in Southern California each July.
Quarterbacks such as Vince Young, Carson Palmer, Matt Leinart, JaMarcus Russell and Troy Smith have all worked out with Johnson before at his Elite 11 camp that is considered the most prestigious football camp in the country.
Johnson, along with his entire Mission Viejo coaching staff are in Lincoln this week to observe NU's spring practices. Johnson's son Rob Johnson played quarterback for Callahan in Oakland for a season, and one of the Mission Viejo assistant coaches also played for Callahan, Kevin Cosgrove and Shawn Watson at Illinois back in the 80's.
"Its fun having Bob (Johnson) here," Watson said. "Bob is somebody we all have a long relationship with. He's kind of like my quarterback guru. I go to him for help because he knows a lot about quarterbacks."
Watson said he gets a chance to watch Johnson in action every May at the different NIKE camps around the country.
