Crunkleton fighting for first-team status

Cornerback Grant Crunkleton arrived at Arizona State as one of the most defensive prominent members of the 2005 recruiting class. He intercepted seven balls as a senior, including two in the state championship game, and with his good size and athleticism, he was expected to eventually become a mainstay in the secondary.

Through his first two seasons in Tempe, however, the 5-foot-10 Crunkleton hasn't seen the field a whole lot. After a redshirt year in 2005, he played in just three games last season, and totaled just one tackle. His career highlight was an interception versus Nevada, which he returned for 24 yards.
