Thind finds confidence with arrival of spring
There was a sense of excitement and anticipation surrounding Gurminder Thind when the 2006 season began.
But the hoopla soon disappeared and turned to despair when an injury ended Thind's campaign after just two games.
But this spring represents a new start for the Canadian, one of three on the team.
In his own mind, Thind is now a totally different player. The confidence that was sorely lacking last season has crystallized and is evident in the way the redshirt junior performs in practice and interacts with his coaches and fellow offensive linemen.
In short, he's learning what it takes to play football in the SEC.
Thind admitted his first career start in the 2006 season opener at Mississippi State - a 15-0 victory for the Gamecocks - was "nerve racking." Unfortunately, he played like someone overcome by jitters and the entire USC offense sputtered for most of the night.
