Scrimmage signifies improvement

Winter is still with us. Saturday's scrimmage was staged in wind chill readings that could not have been higher than the play clock. The show however was worth the weight, especially in terms of the defensive line.

Co-Defensive Coordinator Paul Randolph is high on his line's chances. Sophomore Anthony Egbuniwe is one player the coach mentions often.

"There's probably not a harder working kid on our defense right now," said Randolph. "He takes exactly what you're coaching him to do, and if he's not doing it correctly, he'll stay after practice for five, ten, fifteen minutes every day and work on it. He's a young man that's driven and focused on wanting to be not just a player, but a playmaker."

With a veteran corps of linebackers returning from last year, Randolph also sleeps better thinking about that position. Their communication skills help the defense run smoothly.
