Backs, blocking catch defense's eye

It's not just the folks in the stands during scrimmages this spring who have noticed the big plays being turned in by junior tailback Antone Smith.



The players and coaches on the other side of the ball have paid attention as well.



"No. 6, when he carries the ball, he is something," FSU linebackers coach Chuck Amato said.



Smith's most impressive run of the first 13 practices this spring came this past Friday when took a handoff, started up the middle and cut back to his right. He ended up bouncing wide and running free for what turned into a 55-yard touchdown. That effort was quickly followed up by a 31-yard scoring run in which he broke no fewer than three tackles.
