State of the Buffaloes' linebacking core

BOULDER, Colo. - During his 18 years years as the Buffaloes' inside linebackers coach, Brian Cabral has tutored two All-Americans, six all-conference performers and eight players that were drafted into the NFL.

Where does senior-to-be Jordon Dizon rank on Cabral's long list of standout pupils?

"I tell you what, I have never had a four year starter before," Coach Cabral explained. "Jordon will be the first guy that will be a four year starter for me. He may be as complete a player as I've had. He has the toughness, he has the leadership, he has the skills and the experience. He has to be up there."

Cabral, a great linebacker at CU himself in the mid-70s, ranks tied for 11th on the school's all-time tackle list. Dizon needs just 18 more stops next season to pass his position coach on that list.

Named second-team all-Big 12 following last season and recently named to the Lott Trophy Watch List for the 2007 season, Dizon was recruited as an athlete out of Waimea High School in Hawaii.
