North Carolina wraps up Junior Days

The 16th and final Rivals.com Junior Day for the 2008 recruiting year will be held at Butler High School in Matthews, N.C. on Sunday, April 15 from 2-5 p.m. EST. This is the first Junior Day held by Rivals.com in the Tar Heel State and will be highlighted by many top players led by Rivals100 saefty Robert Blanton.

Blanton, a 6-foot-1, 175-pounder, is one of many Matthews (N.C.) Butler players with scholarship offers who will be in attendance. Blanton has offers from Michigan, Notre Dame, North Carolina, NC State and many others.

His teammate and fellow safety Spencer Adams is also being heaviliy recruited. The 6-foot-2, 180-pounder has offers from Michigan, Louisville, Clemson, North Carolina, NC State and others.

Other Butler players expected to be in attendance include safety Eddie Whitley (NC State, North Carolina, Louisville, Virginia Tech offers) and quarterback Jacob Charest (Cal, Louisville, Oregon offers).

In addition to Charest, two other quarterbacks with D-1 offers will be on hand for the event. Charlotte (N.C.) Latin signal-caller Braden Hanson and Dallas (N.C.) North Gaston dual-threat A.J. Blue will be making the trip to Butler. Hanson has offers from North Carolina and Wisconsin while Blue has an offer from Duke.

Tight end Dwayne Allen from Fayetteville (N.C.) Terry Sanford will be on hand as well. The 6-foot-4, 235-pounder has already committed to Georgia but numerous schools continue to recruit him. Charlotte (N.C.) Independence tight end Mario Carter, who boasts offers from NC State, South Carolina and Virginia, will also be at the event.

Other top prospects in state hoping to make it to the event include Bunn, N.C. athlete Brandon Barnes, Laurinburg (N.C.) Scotland County linebacker Terrell Manning, Shelby (N.C.) Crest linebacker Dwayne Maddox and Concord (N.C.) Robinson offensive tackle R.J. Mattes.

Others close to their first D-1 offers expected at the event include Greensboro (N.C.) Northwest Guilford defensive end Baird Godley, Hope Mills (N.C.) Gray's Creek defensive end Chris Enos, Charlotte (N.C.) Charlotte Christian linebacker Michael Brookmon, Huntersville (N.C.) Hopewell cornerback James Barksdale and Asheville, N.C. cornerback Rahkeem Morgan amongst others.
