Commit #1 for 2009

The Clemson coaching staff has secured its first verbal commit of the 2009 recruiting class.

6-foot-7, 275-pound offensive lineman J.K. Jay of Greenville - Christ Church made his pledge to the Tigers this morning while on an unofficial visit to Clemson to watch the Orange & White game.

Jay, the No. 1 rated rising junior in-state by Tigerillustrated.com, was the top offensive front man on the Tigers' recruiting board for 2009.

Jay, recruited by Clemson inside linebackers coach David Blackwell and offensive line coach Brad Scott, also was offered by Tennessee at the Volunteers' summer camp last year.

The pledge, as first reported by Tiger Illustrated, begins the Tigers' 2009 recruiting efforts with national prospect.

Tiger Illustrated will have more on this breaking story later this evening.
