Linebackers the strength of BC defense

While starting linebacker Brian Toal's status is still uncertain for the 2007 season due to shoulder surgery, the strength of the Boston College defense will still be at linebacker thanks to a tremendous deal of depth and smarts.

"We're still uncertain about Brian's status for the Fall and he's a huge part of our defense, but I still feel confident about our linebackers," said Spaziani. "We have a lot of experience, game experience, returning at linebacker and it's probably the position I can worry the least about. Billy (McGovern) does a great job with those guys."

There are no expected changes at middle or strong-side linebacker as JoLonn Dunbar and Tyronne Pruitt hold down those jobs respectively. Robert Francois has stepped in for Toal at weak-side linebacker and will do so if neccessary in the Fall as well.
