Douglas talks about freshman season

After a very successful freshman season where the coaches kept him away from the media, wide receiver Dominique Douglas answered questions for the first time on Saturday and had a lot of fun in doing so. Douglas talks about his freshman campaign, working with Jake Christensen, developing a Detroit connection at Iowa, and much more.

Q: With Coach Ferentz's rule on freshmen not speaking to the media last year, what's it like to finally talk now?

DOUGLAS: It's nothing surprising. I kind of liked being able to just leave and stay low key, but I don't have any problem with it. I like the media. I did some work at the Super Bowl, so maybe I was really waiting to talk to you guys.

Q: But Doug E. Soft doesn't quite roll off the tongue like Doug E. Fresh.

DOUGLAS: No (laugh). I don't know where Tate got that from, but we just stuck with it I guess.

Q: What was it like coming in with Bowman last year and kind of starting a Detroit connection at Iowa?

DOUGLAS: It's very exciting. That was another one of the reasons that I came here was to be with a guy from where I'm from and Bowman only lives about two blocks from me in Detroit. I think it will be a good connection. We've got a lot of guys from Texas and Jersey, so it maybe it can be something like that.
